Cambridge University Law Society, founded in 1901, is one of the oldest university law societies in Europe. Over 100 years later, the student-run society is amongst the largest in Cambridge with a membership base of over 1000. CULS works closely with our sponsors to bring you the best social calendar on offer in Cambridge, complete with glittering balls, formal dinners and drinks receptions. Members’ favourites include our Winter and Spring Balls, President’s Dinner and our fabulous summer garden party. We are also committed to assist members thinking about a career in the law. Members benefit from unrivalled careers workshops and events - a chance to gain an invaluable insight into different firms, network with fee-earners and recruiters and to develop key skills for the application process and beyond. CULS regularly hosts talks and forums with luminary speakers on topical legal issues. Previous guest speakers have included Lord Hughes (Supreme Court Judge), Hillel Neuer (Executive Director of UN Watch) and Baroness Hale (Deputy President of the Supreme Court). Those interested in trying their hand at mooting will enjoy the many competitions and workshops, for all levels, facilitated by the society’s Mooting sub-committee. We also have an active pro-bono committee which runs a number of fantastic projects for members. We are proud to host annual sponsored exchanges with universities abroad, affording members the opportunity to travel and to experience an alternative legal system. In recent years members have travelled to Leiden, Madrid and Milan. The Society publishes a termly magazine, Per Incuriam, which encourages students to contribute articles about the most pertinent issues in the world today. The magazine also includes student-written first-class essays and articles from illustrious individuals in the legal world. Follow us on Linkedin to stay tuned in to society news and updates and to keep abreast of exciting opportunities.
